I have neglected this blog like all year
I haven't neglected my writing yet though
My nano book last year is finished! took a lot of work but its all done. I am writing the whole thing over again, fixing the bad parts keeping the good, then I'm going to send it to a few trusted friends for a first read through. Once that's over, I plan to write it one last time and send it off to a publisher!! The world will know the origins to Peter Pan according to me :)
So its time to start training for this year. Its only a few months away but its time to start again. I like to go in with a game plan, an idea and an outline of events to work off of. Once I did 30 chapter ideas to write about each day. That worked to an extent, but my chapters usually fell short of the word count minimum per day. An outline of events and then writing until your numbers are up seems to be the best method for me.
I have a few ideas brewing too. A time travel thriller, another peter pan story to be told as a sort of sequel to james, basically following tiger lily after she leaves the lost boys and stops speaking to people, a humorous take on super heroes where every single person has a power, a drama about kids in the middle of the high school popularity chart who start strive to be noticed and accidentally kill a teacher. Those are just a few that are brewing. It got to the point where I had to start making notes in my phone whenever I get a new Idea so it doesn't slip away from me.
So, its coming towards the end of august, how to I plan to train? I plan to...
1. pick a frickin idea
2. outline
3. start a daily prompt blog to get back into the grove of daily word limits
4. get some new classical music.
5. finish big love on HBO go so I'm not tempted to watch instead of write
6. find a healthy reward for when I meet my goals.
So last year one of the things that kept me writing was rewarding myself with candy whenever I made a small accomplishment. I used to do an m&m for ever 200 words. Since then I have lost 60 pounds and am not interested in eating candy anymore. Maybe I will give myself video game time or something. Like for every 200 words I write I get 5 minutes on the xbox.
Well, fellow nano-ers I hope you're training season is going well, your books are thick and your creative juices are flowing!
